10ft sinking polyleader
Get your fly down in the water column — without changing reels.
The Axon Polyleader turns your floating line into a sinking tip in seconds. A monofilament core sheathed in a tapered fly line material, with a loop at each end — it connects directly to the welded loop of your floating WF fly line. The result: your fly gets down to where the fish are holding in the water column, without changing spools. Available in Sinking and Fast Sinking. 10 feet, 24lbs.
Highlight
The equivalent of a sinking tip line — in your fishing vest.
- Loop-to-loop connection: Attaches and detaches in seconds to your line's welded loop. Quick change between floating and sinking without knots or tools.
- Tapered sheathed construction: Optimal energy transfer from the cast to the fly, even with bulky streamers. Clean turnover at the end of the cast.
- 24lbs: Strength designed for powerful fights — large trout, aggressive bass, landlocked salmon in whitewater.
- Sinking (~3-4 ips): For medium-depth pools and moderate currents. Ideal for keeping a streamer in the active zone without touching the bottom.
- Fast Sinking (~6 ips): For deep pools and strong spring currents. Sinks quickly even in strong current.
- Economical alternative: Avoids buying a complete sinking tip line — a single polyleader is enough to cover all depths with your existing floating line.

Usage Tips
Setup:
-
Connection: Polyleader loop → welded loop of your fly line (loop-to-loop).
-
Density choice: Low water, low current → Sinking. High water, strong current, fish on the bottom → Fast Sinking.
Species and techniques:
-
Trout in deep pools: The polyleader keeps the streamer in the active zone without getting snagged on the bottom. Effective in large rivers at the end of the season.
-
Largemouth Bass: The Fast Sinking takes a popper or slider below the surface to present to fish holding deep.
-
Landlocked Salmon in rivers: Particularly useful in strong current conditions to keep the fly in the fishing zone. Always check the specific regulations for the river you are fishing.
-
Increase fly weight: By combining the Fast Sinking polyleader with a weighted fly (tungsten bead), you can reach significant depths without using a full sinking line.
Regulations:
-
In Quebec, several Atlantic salmon rivers prohibit the use of sinking gear. Consult the Regulation respecting activities in wetlands and bodies of water as well as the specific regulations for each river before use.
