Polyleaders
Polyleaders — Adapt Your Presentation to Every Condition
The polyleader is the transition tool between your fly line and your tippet — it determines at what depth and speed your fly descends through the water column. A single polyleader change completely transforms your presentation without having to change your fly line.
Floating or Sinking?
The floating polyleader keeps your fly on the surface or in the film — ideal for dry flies and emergers. The sinking polyleader takes your fly down at a controlled speed and depth according to its IPS (inches per second sink rate) — essential for deep nymphing, streamers and fast currents.
Choosing the Right IPS
- Floating — Surface and film, dry flies and emergers
- IPS 1-2 — Slow sink, shallow water and moderate current
- IPS 3-4 — Intermediate sink, versatile in rivers
- IPS 5-7 — Fast sink, deep water and strong current
