How to choose between a #4, #5 or #6 rod?

The rod number corresponds to the weight of fly line it is designed to cast. A #4 is ideal for small streams and light flies. A #5 is the most versatile—it’s the best-selling size in the world for good reason. A #6 is suitable for larger rivers and bigger fish. If you're a beginner, start with a #5. What's the difference between your fly lines?

How to choose the right reel size?

The reel size should match your rod’s line weight. A 3/5 reel is suitable for #3 to #5 rods, a 5/7 for #5 to #7 rods, and so on. The balance between the rod and reel is important for casting comfort. Is Axon Academy really free?

Yes — completely and permanently free. All Axon Academy content is based on years of field practice and teaching experience. We believe that an angler who understands their gear is a better angler — and a more satisfied customer. This is our way of giving you an advantage from the start.

Is the Academy also suitable for experienced anglers?

Absolutely. Even experienced anglers find surprising information in our guides – particularly regarding the actual weight of lines in grains versus the 1961 AFFTA standard, or concepts like overhang and head length. These are notions that very few shops explain clearly.

Delivery to Canada takes an average of 6 business days — usually 5 to 14 business days depending on the carrier — after order confirmation. Shipping is free on orders of CAD $150 and more.

What happens if I'm not satisfied?

You have 30 days after receipt to request a return of an unused product in its original packaging (prior authorization required; return shipping paid by the customer). A product that is defective or damaged on arrival is replaced or refunded at our expense, after verification. The terms "we," "our" and "us" refer to Axon Fly Fishing, a sole proprietorship operated by François Rivard, located at 234 Rue Dupont, Pont-Rouge, QC, G3H 1P5, Canada. By accessing our website or making a purchase, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not accept these terms, please do not use our Services.

Section 1 — Access and Account

By using our Services, you confirm that you have reached the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction. You are solely responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity on your account. All information you provide while using the Services must be accurate, complete and up to date.

Section 2 — Products and Availability

Axon Fly Fishing reserves the right, at any time and without notice, to:

Change product descriptions, prices and specifications.
Remove any product from sale.
Limit quantities available per customer, region or jurisdiction.
Refuse or cancel any order, including in the event of a pricing error, insufficient stock or doubt about the legitimacy of the transaction.

Product colours and appearance may vary depending on the screen used. Axon Fly Fishing does not guarantee that the appearance or quality of products will fully match the customer's expectations.

Section 3 — Orders and Payment

Every order is an offer to purchase subject to Axon Fly Fishing's express acceptance. An order is confirmed only after payment is received and a written confirmation is sent. Axon Fly Fishing reserves the right to refuse any order without having to justify its decision.

In the event of a pricing error on the website:

International customers are solely responsible for customs duties, import taxes and fees applicable in their country. Axon Fly Fishing cannot be held responsible for these fees.

Section 5 — Shipping and Delivery

Delivery times shown are estimates and do not constitute a guarantee. Axon Fly Fishing cannot be held responsible for delays caused by carriers, customs or any event beyond its control. Risk of loss or damage passes to the customer once the package is handed to the carrier.

For any package lost or damaged in transit, the customer must contact us within 7 days of the expected delivery date with the necessary evidence.

Section 6 — Intellectual Property

All of the following are the exclusive property of François Rivard, operating under the business name Axon Fly Fishing, and are protected by Canadian and international intellectual property laws:

The "Axon Fly Fishing" brand and associated logo.
The slogan "Conçu pour des passionnés, par un passionné" (Designed for enthusiasts, by an enthusiast).
The axonflyfishing.com domain name and all subdomains.
All text, photos, videos, graphics, illustrations and content published on the website.
The Axon Académie and all of its educational content.
Any other original creation associated with the Axon Fly Fishing brand.

Any reproduction, copying, distribution, modification or commercial use of these elements without prior written authorization from Axon Fly Fishing is strictly prohibited and may result in legal action.

Using the Services only authorizes you to view and use the content for personal, non-commercial purposes. No licence, right or title to Axon Fly Fishing's intellectual property is granted to you through use of the Services.

The Services are hosted by Shopify. All purchases are made directly with Axon Fly Fishing. Shopify is not responsible for any aspect of transactions between you and Axon Fly Fishing.
